Susan is the Director and founder of LifeCare Consultancy. With over 20 years experience in private practice as a Registered Counsellor specialising in loss and grief, young people and relationship therapy and over 30 years experience as a Registered Nurse, Susan has a strong appreciation of the complexities associated with negotiating a relationship breakdown. She teaches counselling related courses at UQ and QUT and delivers training and workshops both locally and nationally.
Susan is also a Fellow of the Queensland Counsellors Association.
In 2007, Amelia commenced working for LifeCare as a Supervisor for the Children’s Supervised Contact Centre at LifeCare. Whilst Amelia was completing her Bachelor of Social Work, she worked in a range of jobs, including tenancy manager for Zig Zag Young Women’s Resource Centre and Youth Support Worker for Mercy Family Services. In 2011, Amelia graduated from Griffith University with First Class Honours and went on to work as a Social Worker in the Cancer Care team at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. Shortly thereafter, Amelia was offered the role of Manager for the Children’s Supervised Contact Centre. Since being in this role, Amelia has supervised contact between parents and children, rostering and coordinating contracted staff, facilitating professional supervision and training and providing critical incident support as required. In 2015, Amelia became the first board member from a private Supervised Contact Centre for ACCSA (the governing body for Australian Supervised Contact Centres).
As LifeCare’s Practice Manager, Susan brings a wealth of experience, skill and professionalism to the day to day operation of LifeCare. Having previously worked as the Executive Assistant to the CEO at Youth and Family Services, Susan understands the sometimes challenging task of managing the needs of clients, staff and other service providers. She has been with LifeCare for over ten years and is undoubtedly a pivotal factor in the on-going success of the organisation.
